Metrolina Theatre Organ Society, Inc., (MTOS) is a not-for-profit organization chartered in Charlotte in 1989 to encourage the preservation, restoration, and maintenance of the American theatre organ, to support and sponsor the performance of music on these instruments in the few remaining theatres which still are so equipped, and to encourage the renovation and refurbishment of the remaining "Movie Palaces" through meetings, concerts, workshops, conventions, and educational opportunities for its members and the local community.
MTOS is affiliated with the American Theatre Organ Society (ATOS) which was organized in 1955 for preserving the traditions of the theatre organ and promoting the understanding of the instrument and its music.
Membership in MTOS is open to all interested individuals. Members share a common enthusiasm for celebrating and preserving the great American heritage of the theatre organ. You don't have to participate in any meetings or other chapter activities. You can simply read the magazines, if you so choose, or you can attend every meeting, every function, including the exciting annual conventions. The choice is yours. Many members feel that the best part of membership is being able to talk with others who share our common interest. Members receive the MTOS News (published as needed) and the colorful bi-monthly magazine produced by ATOS, Theatre Organ.
