We are under the marquee with the managers of the Publix Theatres in this region (between Washington DC and Atlanta GA); their regional offices were upstairs. "Publix Theatre Managers Training School, Direction of John P. Barry, Charlotte, N. C., June 20-22, 1928." "Moon 288437" (perhaps a code for the photographer?).
Note the wrought-iron box office above the heads of the managers on the right side. Also, see the ornate holders for coming attractions posters under the left edge of the marquee. The use of large numbers of bare incandescent light bulbs was necessary to provide flood lighting of large areas. Notice them in the under-ceiling of the marquee.
