That visitors to the Carolina Theatre leave
comments?
Here are some comments written by visitors:
"There is an historic theatre in every city I have ever lived. It is something
Charlotte definitely lacks and will lack forever if the Carolina is lost."
"I saw The Sound of Music 13 times as a child 30 years ago. I want to see
it here again. Let it live on."
"If this is lost, a treasure is lost forever! Don't let it get away, Charlotte!"
"The Carolina must be saved & restored to its original splendor!"
"In our rush to arrive at some point in the future, let's not forget that
the present is a sum of the past, and that some parts of that past also have
a place in the future."
It
was listed on the National Register for the shortest period of any non-demolished
property?
The National Register of Historic
Places lists exteriors only and when the Carley Capital Group demolished
the lobby and retail space, it was removed. It was added August 14, 1986
and removed June 22, 1988. It stayed on the list for only about 2 years.
