ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

From: Steven Margison, June 1997

This organ is currently (as of 1991) in the Tivoli Theatre in Downers Grove, IL. Its configuration is exactly as it was in the original 1924 installation, with about 95% original parts.

The organ from the Indiana Theatre in East Chicago, IN, now located in the Tivoli Theatre, Downers Grove, IL is NOT a Style H3M. It is a 3 manual Special. If it were a Style H, it would have 10 ranks distributed evenly over two chambers...(5 ranks on each side).

In Opus 942, however, there are 6 ranks (Diapason, Flute, Dulciana, Violin, Violin Celeste, and Clarinet) on the Main side, and 4 ranks (Style "D" Trumpet, Tibia, Kinura, and Vox Humana) in the Solo Side.

The Style H would have had the 15" Tuba Horn to 16', and a Chrysoglott, and an Orchestral Oboe. 942 has a Style "D" Trumpet, Marimba, and Dulciana, with no Orch. Oboe, and no Chrysoglott.

(Editor's note: This instrument had a unique Wiring Schedule, 600, which makes it a "special". Many instruments listed with a particular "Style" designation have slight variants on the standard Wiring Schedule but are still listed under the grouping of the basic style because the WS list shows it that way, probably because the instruments was sold as a variant of the style, customised for the customer - at an extra cost. The best compromise is to call it a H3MSP.

There were at least 10 other variations listed as H3M)
