ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

The organ in the Maryland Theater is Wurlitzer opus 1044, built 4/25/25 for the Chicago Riding Academy, later the Chicago Ice Arena.

It was a 3/14, the 2nd largest high pressure Wurlitzer with pressures on 20" wind and possibly with a few ranks on 25" wind.

The original console but gutted and electrified when it went into the theater.

The work was done by the recently out of work Moller employees after Moller bit the dust.

I have seen the installation and it leaves a lot to be desired.

The organ has been inoperative for quite sometime due to lightening having its way with the solid state relay.

The Maryland blower. I forget the H.P. Yes, I guess it had a rank or two on 25" but since they reused the old wind line and couldn't or wouldn't run a 2nd wind line, the high pressure outlet was sealed off. BLOWER PHOTO

The July/August 1994 issue continues with a stoplist and additional information.

The instrument appears to contains a few rather unusual ranks (for Wurlitzer), including a Military Trumpet (from 16') and a Flageolet (from 4'). I believe that its 8' Tuba Mirabilis was on 25" pressure.

During a trip to Hagerstown, organ builder Cullie Mowers and I visited the shop where the organ was being rebuilt. We found it quite by accident after seeing the console in the store-front window of the shop building. I saw a few of the bass pipes of the Military Trumpet in storage at Trivo; they looked like a Moller French Trumpet. (Note -- I wrote that over 10 years ago, and now I'm not quite sure just what I meant! ;-)
